The hand

Hands that caress, hands that hold, hands that protect, support, listen.

 After years in which human contact has been reduced, filtered, or even feared, this three-dimensional inflatable hand becomes a visual and poetic sign of a rediscovered closeness, of a gesture that returns to inhabit space and the body.

Created for the Virgilio Sieni Company as part of a theater and dance performance produced by Officina del Gesto, the inflatable sculpture is at the center of a performance that combines movement, visual art, and collective reflection. With its monumental dimensions of 6 x 5 meters, the hand dominates the scene as a universal symbol of relationship, welcome, and care.

From a technical point of view, it is a custom-made inflatable set piece, designed to integrate perfectly with the performative dimension of the work. Its soft shape, generous volume, and lightweight material give it a strong but fluid presence that interacts with the dancers' bodies and the surrounding space.

The inflatable element is not just a stage prop, but becomes an active part of the choreographic language: a giant caress that invades the stage, a silent presence that evokes, excites, and welcomes.

In this project, matter inflates to become emotion: a hand that is both form and meaning, stage prop and symbol, plastic sign and human gesture.
